Water Use Data for Public Water Suppliers and Self-Supplied Industry in Utah 1986-1987 (WUD-7)

A public water supply system is defined as a system supplying water for human consumption and other domestic uses and commercial and industrial use. It can be publicly or privately owned and includes systems supplying water to cities, subdivisions, federal installations, summer homes and camping areas.

Little was known about how much surface water was being extracted annually for various uses prior to 1977. In 1977, the National Water Use Information Program was initiated to collect and quantify water-use data for several general categories. This publication, the seventh in a series of continuing reports presenting water use data for Utah, shows water withdrawn for the majority of public water supplies in the state in 1989.
