The USGS 1:500,000 scale Idaho Shaded Relief Topographic Map is a comprehensive tool used for regional and statewide land management and planning. It covers large areas at one inch, equal to approximately eight miles, and features major natural and manmade elements such as mountains, valleys, roads, and boundaries. The map also includes contour lines to depict the Earth's terrain, with tightly spaced lines in steep areas and wider spacing in flatter regions. It uses a variety of colors to differentiate between different features, including blue for water, green for woodland, and red for urbanized areas. The map is georeferenced to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) or the World Geodetic System of 1984 (WGS 84) and projected to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection and coordinate system. It is available in two options: 36x50 inches on rolled 24 lb paper or rolled 7 mil
