Mining Districts of Utah (UGA-32)

The mineral resources of Utah are as varied and fascinating as its geology and scenery. These resources are comprised of not only the well known base metal districts, but also a wide variety of other minerals such as uranium, halite, gilsonite, and beryllium, to name a few.

It is a marvel how resourceful and hard working the early prospectors and miners of the west must have been, leaving us to wonder at the many untold stories about the discovery and development of the abundant mineral deposits of Utah. Mute evidence of many of the mining ventures are still to be found in Utah’s mountains and canyons. A diligent effort has been made here to provide the reader with information on many of the major districts and mining activities. The papers in this publication are listed below:
