The Oljeto 7.5′ quadrangle is in the southeastern corner of Utah, in southern San Juan County and is within the Colorado Plateau physiographic province, The quadrangle is part of the broader region of Monument Valley, and the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, which hosts about 250,000 visitors annually, is located southeast of the quadrangle. The primary goal of this mapping effort is to provide up-to-date information on the geology in and around the community of Oljato, Utah. Furthermore, we developed this map with a specific focus on the groundwater resources in the area. The hydrogeology section of the booklet provides a more extensive analysis of hydrogeologic resources than is typically included with UGS geologic maps. No modern geologic maps of the area at any scale have been published prior to this study.
