Delineation of Geoheritage Sites in Utah presents Utah’s geodiversity and establishes a standardized inventory and ranking system for the state’s most valuable geological assets for use as a tool in conservation, education, and public outreach, and for future land management and policy implementation. From existing inventories and author additions, a total of 739 sites were identified as potential geoheritage sites, which were shortlisted based on five criteria—scientific significance, educational value, cultural importance, economics, and aesthetics—to 129 sites. Social significance, threats of alteration or destruction, and proximity to other sights were also scored and measured. The ten highest scoring sites are highlighted and discussed.
