Utah contains a wide variety of Industrial rocks and minerals. Mining of these commodities constitutes an Important segment of Utah's economy with sales exceeding $400 million in 1989. The most important minerals according to U.S. Bureau of Mines production figures are construction sand and gravel, portland cement, halite, potassium salts, phosphate, crushed stone, limestone, clays and gypsum.
