Coal quality characteristics of Utah's coal beds in and near potentially producible coal tracts (RI-219)
By: A. C. Keith
The Utah Geological and Mineral Survey coal quality database includes over 1800 sample records. The quality information is the basis for this report on Utah's economic coal beds. The coal characterization data is intended to define the coal beds at the individual mine site and the surrounding 25 square miles.
The information is organized by mine location and by coal bed. Average bed values and standard deviations are included for general coal bed comparisons and characteristics. This report is written in response to the many requests which the UGMS receives for coal quality information. In particular, the requests for publicly available data from Utah's producing coal beds
