Radon-hazard potential in Tooele Valley, Tooele County, Utah (PI-44)

The radon-hazard potential of Tooele Valley is mapped based on geologic factors. Soil with the greatest potential for high indoor-radon levels is found locally along the valley margin. This soil is sediment deposited by Lake Bonneville, or alluvium locally derived from volcanic rocks in the Stansbury Mountains. Answers are provided to commonly asked questions about the occurrence of radon, associated health risks, and radon testing procedures.
