The Santaquin quadrangle covers southern Utah Valley, southeastern Goshen Valley, and northern Juab Valley. Utah and Goshen Valleys are separated by Warm Springs Mountain and low hills that extend northward to West Mountani in the adjacent West Mountain quadrangle. Mountains extending southward from Warm Springs Mountain separate Goshen and Juab Valleys.

Although the Santaquin quadrangle is largely rural, the area's population is rapidly growing. To accommodate this growth and the accompanying demand for travel, the Mountainland Association of Governments foresees the need for several new transportation routes. Construction of these routes, with associated residential and commercial development, will require information about the nature and distribution of geologic hazards. Because most geologic hazards in the area are associated with unconsolidated geologic deposits that serve as foundation material, this geologic map will serve as a necessary prerequisite to safe and responsible development. Information in this publication includes: map unit descriptions and correlation of map units.
